The happenings around Sacajawea
Principal Friesen's Weekly Update, 11/8/18
It has been a quiet week around here with all of our 4th and 5th graders off to IslandWood Environmental Learning Center. I know they’re having a great time away!
Dear Sacajawea Community,
It has been a quiet week around here with all of our 4th and 5th graders off to IslandWood Environmental Learning Center. I know they’re having a great time away! I’m writing this on Wednesday evening around 6:00, so I know that the students are probably enjoying dinner together right now. They’ve spent their day learning about history, science and the environment in a variety of natural settings and spending time together. Every year, our students return from IslandWood exited to share their learning with us, and with great memories of the time they had there together. Want to know more? You can read all about it on the IslandWood School Overnight page.
In other news, this is just a reminder that parent conferences are coming soon! If you haven’t signed up yet, please check with your teacher to set up a time on Saturday, November 17th; Monday, November 19th or Tuesday, November 20th. See my letter to parents for more information and considerations.
In Partnership,
Rachel Friesen, Principal

Consent Form for November 16th Flu Shot
If you still want your child to receive the flu vaccine at school, please complete and return the consent form linked in this post.
This is a note from our school nurse.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
You may have recently completed a permission form for Healthy Schools flu shot clinic which is scheduled on November 16th from 8:15-11:15 at Sacajawea. The District had to change our vaccine vendor and are now using Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to provide this service. If you still want your child to receive the flu vaccine at school, please complete and return the consent form below. We are sorry for this inconvenience to you. We are hopeful that this effort will reduce absences this winter.
Access the consent form here, and please return it to the school nurse in paper, or electronic format.

Our annual book fair is less than a month away. More details will be coming home before Thanksgiving break, so be on the lookout. Kids will have the opportunity to shop and purchase books before school, after school and during recess throughout the week.
We will also need volunteer help for setup, preview day, running cash registers, helping students find books and tear down. All profit from the book fair supports our library!
If you have questions or would like to be involved please contact Laura Riley at lkriley99@outlook.com or Janet Schertzinger at janet.schertz@yahoo.com.
