Come at 6pm to enjoy pizza and play fun (and educational) games in the cafeteria!
At 6:30pm, our amazing reading specialist, Anne Singh, will offer a short presentation for parents in the gym around “Just right reading level books” as well as how to best support your child’s reading at home. She’ll have a display of books across all the levels and be available to answer any of your questions and offer book recommendations.
The book fair will also be open in the library for browsing and purchasing. Hope to see you all there!

We invite you to visit the Sacajawea Scholastic Book Fair - an exciting celebration of reading with hundreds of fun, engaging, affordable books for kids to discover.
Students will preview the book fair on Monday Dec. 3rd with their classroom and make a list of their favorites. Each student can then purchase the books in two ways; by visiting the book fair later in the week or ordering books online. Please remember to add tax to any book price from the preview list your student brings home.
Full details are on our Book Fair page.
If your child was absent on picture day, a new picture package will be going home on Monday, 11/26. If your child is new to our school, you will also be getting a picture packet
If you want your child’s picture retaken, you must return the picture package that went home. Please let your teacher know, so they will make sure that it gets done.
If you have any questions, please contact Doreen Norman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Want more walkways in the Sacajawea neighborhood? Come talk with your neighbors and Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) about an idea to install separated walking spaces on several streets around the school (17th, 20th, 90th, 95th, 98th), as soon as next year. We’re meeting in the lunchroom Tuesday, Nov. 13th from 6-7pm.
These walkways would look like the new walkway on NE 96th St behind the school that SDOT installed in September. Parking would have to be removed on one side of the street to fit in the walkway, so let’s all discuss whether neighbors can live with less parking in exchange for a network of connected walkways to access the school, park, and bus stops on 15th and Lake City.
All are welcome to join in the fun at our upcoming, monthly PTA Board Meeting! We'll continue with our updates and report-outs on key PTA activities from the fall -- including fundraising and updates on our recent BEX Levy involvement.
Have an item you'd like to discuss with the board? Email co-chairs Ara Swanson Merkens (email@example.com) and Matt Walker (firstname.lastname@example.org), and let us know by Tuesday, November 6th.
Here are some reminders for families:
Packed bags need to be at school Friday, Nov. 2nd.
Please bring a sack lunch for the trip on Monday, Nov. 5th (If you need a sack lunch from the cafeteria, please let your teacher know ASAP)
Students are scheduled to return Thursday afternoon, in time for buses and parent pick up.
Hosted by Sacajawea’s Racial Equity Team, the Family Heritage Potluck is one of Sacajawea’s biggest events! There will be delicious food, crafts, a photo booth, performances by Ms. Rings Class and the Second Graders led by Ms. Teague. Bring a family dish or drinks to share.
