Sac Closure Response Planning
Hello, Sacajaweans!
Anyone in the Sac community is invited to join our advocacy meeting this Sunday, 10am-11:30am. We will be planning out a concrete response in the event of a Sac closure announcement (no announcement has been made by SPS).
We will be organizing:
What specific proposals need to get in front of the PTA membership for a vote now, so that advocacy can officially come from the PTA?
Do we want to organize a meeting with other schools targeted in 2024 or likely to be on a 2026 closure list?
What should a Sac community survey and/or petition look like?
I’ll leave you with a few pieces of closure-related news:
I published this piece last week to help folks evaluate the merits of any SPS closure proposals. How to evaluate the accuracy of savings estimates? What does “increased resourcing” mean? And so on.
Olympia’s school district just announced plans to close three elementary schools. They are having public hearings later this month.
See you on the playground, or on Sunday!
