SPS Remote Learning

From SPS:

There is no wrong way to encourage learning. Do your best, seek out resources when needed, and give yourself and your children time to learn how to learn at home.

Most importantly, stay safe and healthy as we work through this time together.

The SPS Learning Resources page has learning packets and ideas for learning inside and outside the home.

Accessing Clever

Here’s how to access Clever:

  • Go to seattleschools.org, click on the Student Family Portals icon in blue. Then choose Student Portal

  • Next choose the option “Log in with Active Directory”

  • Student computers on campus automatically link to Clever, so signing in will be new for students.

  • Third through Fifth graders can login using the same login and password they use on their school laptops.

  • K-2 and any students who don’t know their login information - their login looks like an email. All student logins follow the pattern of 1initialslastname@seattleschools.org

So, if I was a student mine would be 1rlfriesen@seattleschools.org Students do not have access to email inboxes, this address is for portal login purposes only.

  • Your child’s password is their birthday in this format: MMDDYYYY, OR the first four digits: MMDD.

    • For example, if your child’s birthday were April 23, 2015, then the password could be 04232015 OR just 0423.

    • Some 4th and 5th graders made their own unique passwords. If they don’t remember them, please contact their classroom teacher.

Some great resources available on Clever are:

  • Typing Club is an excellent program to teach typing through fun, interactive lessons and games.. Just 5 minutes practice per day, with fingers on the right keys, can make a big difference for students over time. This is primarily for 2nd graders and above, as we encourage younger students to learn to write by hand before introducing the keyboard.

You can access Typing Club though the student portal or directly via this link: https://seattle-public-schools.typingclub.com. To login to Typing Club, student usernames are the first part of their email address, everything before the @. (1rlfriesen, if I was a student) The password for Typing Club for every child is “welcome.”

  • Pebble-Go is an online database. Kids can research animals, science topics, biographies, social science topics, and dinosaurs

  • Tumble Books Library Engaging books read aloud. Students can follow along as they hear the book read, see the words highlighted and view the pictures.

  • Libby can help you connect with a library to find free ebooks and audiobooks.
