Room Parents

Parent volunteers make a difference in the classroom. They improve adult-to-child ratios, support enrichment activities, and make extras like field trips possible.

This year the PTA recruited Room Parents to help coordinate the many volunteers and volunteer opportunities that come up throughout the year. In addition to working with the teacher to coordinate classroom projects and volunteers, the Room Parent serves as a class contact for the PTA and staff.

Each teacher runs his or her classroom differently and has different needs, but the primary activities overseen by the Room Parents typically include:
  • Coordinating parent volunteers to assist in the classroom with reading, math, writing, science, art, etc., as requested by teachers
  • Coordinating volunteers for special events, such as holidays, birthdays, Teacher Appreciation Week, and end-of-year celebration
  • Coordinating volunteers for creating classroom art project for school auction in the spring
  • Coordinating volunteers for classroom field trip
