Sacajawea Celebrates Improved Access to Classroom Technology

On Monday, March 5, the Sacajawea Elementary School community celebrated improved access to classroom technology for students.

With help from the Power Up technology grant, technology funding from the district and a private family foundation, Sacajawea will be one of the first Seattle public elementary schools to provide one-to-one computing for every 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student.

Awarded to only 10 schools in North America, Softchoice’s Power Up grant offers $10,000 toward classroom technology for students. Winning schools were selected based on a significant economic need for their student population, a compelling need for technology resources, and a strong plan to improve learning outcomes for students while leveraging the technology in the classroom.

In addition to the grant, district technology funding and the Willemsen Family Fund are supporting the purchase of additional laptop computers that enables the school to expand readily available access to technology in the classrooms.
